Positions

At Slurve, there are always positions available for talented new players interested in joining our team. Since Slurve is a fledgling non-profit organization currently operating on a very limited budget, we are not offering paid positions at this time. We are optimistic however, that as our grant writing and fundraising campaigns move forward, we will be able to offer modest compensation packages for Editorial positions in the coming months. Mostly though, we are looking for people who enjoy writing, enjoy Slurve, support our mission, and are looking to gain exposure for their work through a quality publication that reaches thousands of readers.

Send applications to tryouts [at] slurvemag.com. Make sure to put the position in the subject line, and include 1-3 samples of your work, or a resume for internships and grant writers.

Creative Contributors

Those interested in becoming Creative Contributors should visit our Tryouts Page for submission guidelines.

Contributing Editors

Whether you’re a sports junkie with sharp sense of humor, enjoy satirizing politics and pop culture, want to tackle more serious subjects like the arts, education, and social responsibility, review books, music, movies, restaurants, or art openings, or have some other idea you think we might like, send us your best pitch and show us why we should give you a spot in our starting lineup.

Illustrators

Slurve is looking for talented artists who are interested in doing quick illustrations for our poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction pieces.

Managing Editors

While many of our managing editors work their way up from Contributing Editor, we also sign the occasional trade or free agent.  Managing Editors are in large part responsible for the content published in Slurve.  In addition to being regular contributors, they review submissions, assign and edit articles, essays and reviews in their fields of expertise, determine publishing schedules, and recruit top-notch talent to contribute to Slurve.

Grant Writer

Slurve is interested in hiring someone with grant writing experience to help us secure the grants necessary to build our organization.

Internships

Slurve offers internships to high school and college students, often for course credit. Students participate in the day-to-day running of the organization, handling submissions and query letters, researching stories, creating graphics and banner ads, updating content, promoting Slurve through social media sites, and perhaps even being given the opportunity to contribute content.
